An African American Cultural Magazine

About 8rockculture
8rockculture is an African American political and cultural magazine. According to a glossary of Harlem Renaissance slang by Zora Neal Hurston, 8rock means “very Black person.” For me, a “very Black person” revels in our culture and pursues liberation.
The mission of 8rockculture is twofold: 1. Share solutions leading to the liberation of Black people, and 2. Promote the idea of a Black “Nation within a Nation” in the Washington, D.C., area by developing a list of DMV Black businesses.
8rock essays point to actionable strategies and solutions for Black liberation. I’m tired of polemics that simply describe the problems and issues. We need actionable strategies and solutions. 8rock book reviews focus on Black history and literature that feed the soul of liberation.
